Established in October 2006, Tryd&True (T&T) has made it a mission to find out what women want and each season successfully fills these needs in the most stylish and creative ways they know how. Amy Wong and Sara McKenty, the Tryd&True ladies, share not only a passion for the fashion-world but they also share a unique vision to offer clothing that truly fits the lifestyle of the many independent, intelligent and vivacious women they know.
As a young girl, designer Amy Wong experimented with unique and innovative ways of spicing up her wardrobe by using her mothers sewing machine. She would take ordinary pieces of fabric and would sew them into garments that you could find in the fashion magazines. When people would see her creation and ask where she got it , she would shyly respond "I made it". Secretly she loved the idea of her clothes making and impression on people in her home town, Ottawa, Ontario. After graduating from the Fashion Design program at Seneca College in Toronto, she continued to hone her skills working her way through the city's industry, into a key supporting role at independent shop "House of Spy". With experience under her belt and passion in her heart it was time to move to the next stage.
Hailing from small town Perth, Ontario, talented and edgy designer Sara McKenty came to Toronto in pursuit of everything fashionable. As a teenager, whatever she couldn't find, she would make and what wasn't exactly how she imagined it, she would alter. Torn between many subjects of interest, she decided to pursue a Commerce degree at Queens University and graduated in spring 2002. Although proud of this achievement she was not convinced that business alone could satisfy her creative spirit. In 2005 Sara graduated with honours from the Fashion Design program at the International Academy of Design in Toronto. Straight out of school Sara accepted an assistant designer position with super-chic clothing line Wonderlust. From sales to accounting to design Sara has finally found the perfect union of business with pleasure!
Women love the Tryd&True label mainly due to its relaxed sophistication, a direct outcome of the women behind the label. The T&T ladies really do see the "fun" in functionality. They truly believe in living life to the fullest, doing it stylishly and most importantly staying true to themselves!
